Spielberg Joins the 3D Craze With New Boom Blox Sequel “Boom Blox: Balls in Your Face”

When Avatar was first announced to the film world it was greeted with equal servings of hype and skepticism. Many were excited by the promise of 3D effects granting new immersion into the movie watching experience, while others looked at it as just another fad similar to Ugg Boots or William Hung. No matter what anyone’s preconceptions were, the proof was in the profit, as Avatar blew the doors off box office records worldwide.
As the rest of the film world began brainstorming how to make the next blockbuster flick, one acclaimed director saw the technology as a great avenue for a different kind of block busting. “I want the players to really feel the balls.” States a giddy Steven Spielberg on his new IP Boom Blox: Balls In Your Face. The Oscar-winning director could barely sit still as he mused over the future of his Wii franchise “This will really bring the whole living room alive with balls flying to and fro, explosions, blox and of course all the cute kittie and doggie dudes.”
“ I hadn’t seen anything in 3D since watching a rough cut of Shindler’s List. I just heard how people were really responding to JC’s latest romp and thought, go figure. It wasn’t until a few days after I heard about that when I was playing B-Blox and I pegged one of the little Moo-Cows and I couldn’t help but feel, I wish they’d come hang out in my living room. I mean, the designers were kind enough to make little plastic figures for me but they aren’t as bendy or cute as the real guys. Having them closer to me really makes me happy.”
Spielberg hopes that incorporating the cutting edge 3D technology with his game will bridge the gap for non-gamers much in the same way Avatar drew a large amount of people who otherwise would never set foot near a sci-fi movie. “Avatar didn’t really do anything I haven’t seen before in Manga.”
While the Award-Winning director assured inquisitive reporters that this change of focus wasn’t personally charged, many noted a particularly vehement tone whenever Cameron’s name was mentioned, while others picked up on a bit of foaming developing in the corners of his mouth.
Spielberg even hinted at the possible future for his party franchise “I have been talking to [Tom] Hanks a lot recently and we both feel that it would be really neat to see Boom blox on the big screen. Tom has been sending me Photoshops of himself as a block character. If anything should be in 3D it has to be the blox’ it’s really the only thing that makes sense.”
