Playing Beatles Rock Band Backwards Reveals Cryptic, Meaningless, Three Hour Long Message

…speak…nine vitamins…evil evil…
Chilling, isn’t it? That subversive anti-vitamin message is being injected into the subconscious of millions of gamers across the country. It’s just one small snippet of the cryptic, meaningless three hour long message that one hears when playing the entirety of Beatles Rock Band story mode backwards from finish to start.
The discovery was made in the wee hours of Thursday morning, when Mike Autogeis and his best friend Yamir became the first to play through the game backwards. They were both really stoned.
“Yamir kept pausing in the middle of songs and saying, ‘Did you hear what you just said?’ And I didn’t, so we went back and played it and sure enough we heard all these crazy planted messages,” Mr. Autogeis told Hardcasual.
Harmonix is keeping mum on the whole thing, which raises some interesting questions:
Are these messages part of the game? Perhaps they’re an extra little treat inserted by the creators to add a certain amount of replayablity to a product that’s sure to be gathering dust in most peoples’ closets by Halloween.
Or perhaps they’ve been planted in the Beatles’ catalog for years and we’re just now discovering them, thanks to the game’s strangely conceived “Play Entire Game Backwards” option made available after the credits roll.
However they came to be, there’s one thing we can all agree on: they’re spooky.
“I mean, what the heck does all this ‘Ad Alb O Eed Alb O’ stuff that Paul keeps singing about?” wrote Samantha Sheerhorn on a Rock Band forum. Another member of the forum quickly pointed out that the song in question makes just as little sense when played in the correct direction.
More and more secret messages are being discovered every hour.
Once news of the messages hit the web, Beatle fans nationwide set about trying to decipher the rambling mix of phrases and sounds that range from political nonsense (“Obama razor pants”) to strange cooking recipes (“Make twig and tree cake”) to chilling prophecies (“lukewarm volcano pie”).
So far, no one has said anything about whether or not the ESRB’s had prior knowledge of the 3-hour long secret message before the game’s release on Wednesday. If not, then this could lead to a much less interesting version of the famous ‘Hot Coffee’ scandal that rocked the gaming world a few years ago.
Scandal or no scandal, the game is already breaking numerous sales records. With its success, Harmonix has announced a Pink Floyd Rock Band – which is said to line up perfectly with the VHS version of Wizard of Oz – and Tupac Rock Band – which will feature lyrics that refer to things that have happened in the past two months.
Avid gamer Mike Autogeis thinks that the messages were purposefully planted by Giles Martin, son of the famous ‘Fifth Beatle’ George Martin.
“It’s just a way of topping the famous ‘Paul is dead’ thing that happened on Abbey Road. I mean, you could put ‘Paul is Dead’ in this game… it just wouldn’t have the same effect. To be honest with you, before this game came out, I thought Paul had died a long time ago.”
